Europe in winter is a playground for the winter sport enthusiasts. Throughout Europe there are stunning snow covered locations, perfect for skiing and enjoying the outdoors. The hardest part about it all is deciding where to go because there are just so many holiday destinations which require holiday resources .

The Alps is the largest group of mountain ranges in central Europe, making it an easy location to reach  for Europeans and overseas visitors. The Alps run mainly through France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and northern Italy. Some of the most beautiful skiing resorts are therefore found in these countries.

When you think of France, you may think only of Paris vacations but France also has one of the most famous resorts in Europe, Val-d’Isère. Skiing started here back in 1930 and today it boasts some of the most modern lift equipment in the world. Other French ski locations include Chamonix, Courchevel and Meribel.

Switzerland has a famous reputation for picturesque mountains, great ski slopes and beautiful mountaineering tracks. Kandersteg is a quintessential Swiss village, whose resort is great for beginners and relaxing. For more difficult and snowboarder slopes, Wengen is the place to go. In Champery, skiers and snowboarders can spend a day on the slopes without riding the same track twice. It is one of the most versatile and largest resorts in Europe.

Austria offers must more than just ski resorts. In Innsbruck the adrenaline seakers can partake is a wide range of fast paced sports like tobogganing and bobsledding. The Igls resort is the perfect resort for people seeking a wide range of activities. There are ski slopes for all levels, ice skating areas, floodlit skiing and if the days is best spent relaxing, the town is only a few minutes away.

Not all European resorts are part of the Alps. The Pelion Mountain in Greece is a great location for the explorers. It is new on the resort list and large amounts of the terrain have not yet been explored. Scandinavian countries like Norway and Sweden have very good resorts. Cross-country skiing is popular in these regions and resorts normally offer great tours through the terrain.
